About ..... the writer

Michael Connor is a freelance writer, specialising in food, travel and crime issues.  He is hotel-school and casino trained and has spent lengthy periods in Africa (including Zimbabwe and Sierra Leone), China, Greece, the former Yugoslavia, the Caribbean and the UK.  He has now settled, with his long term partner, teenage son and dogs in Northern Europe.

In 2001, he was commissioned to research and write a 95k word dramatised biography of London gangster and playboy Billy Howard, The Soho Don, by Mainstream Publishing.  This was published in hardback, in November 2002, and in paperback the following year.

Prior to this, over a six year period, he has worked on a freelance basis, researching and writing a full page weekly feature for the Caterer & Hotelkeeper. Plus a variety of pieces for Now magazine, GQ, Adrenalin, The Guardian, The Mirror and The News of the World.

Since that time, Michael has contributed to travel features, including The Financial Times glossy "How to Spend It" and written copy for hospitality, leisure and business brochures.  Has recently completed a film script, and is working on a collection of short stories with a crime theme.

Michael Connor accepts commissions for all similar types of work, from reputable publications and publishers.
